Can You Clone a Used Hyundai or Kia PCM?
Yes, on supported SIM2K applications.
A compatible used OEM PCM is often an excellent replacement for a failed Hyundai or Kia engine computer.
Instead of installing an unrelated used PCM with different vehicle-specific information, we clone the required data from your original PCM into the replacement.
For best results, purchase a used OEM PCM with identification and hardware numbers that match your original module.
IMPORTANT: Hyundai Kia "R" Replacement PCM Warning
Some Hyundai and Kia replacement or remanufactured PCMs have identification or part numbers containing an "R."
We cannot guarantee that these "R" replacement modules can be cloned.
We have encountered SIM2K replacement modules where the internal circuit board and programming connection layout differ from the original production PCM. In some cases, the BDM/programming connection used to access the controller is different and prevents us from performing our normal cloning procedure.
We Recommend Avoiding "R" Modules
Whenever possible, purchase a used OEM production PCM with matching numbers rather than an "R" replacement/remanufactured module.
Already purchased one?
Contact us with clear photos of BOTH PCM labels before shipping.
Do Hyundai Kia PCM Part Numbers Need to Match?
We strongly recommend matching the part number and hardware identification between your original and replacement PCM.
Cloning transfers data—it does not turn incompatible hardware into the correct PCM for your vehicle.
Do not purchase a replacement based only on year, make, model, and engine.
If you're unsure about compatibility, send us pictures of the original and replacement PCM labels before ordering.
Does a Cloned Hyundai Kia PCM Need Key Programming?
For a successfully cloned and compatible SIM2K PCM, additional immobilizer or key programming is generally not expected because the required original controller data is transferred to the replacement.
However, existing immobilizer problems, previously replaced modules, vehicle wiring problems, or other faults can affect operation.
PCM cloning will not correct unrelated vehicle problems.
Hyundai, Kia & Genesis SIM2K PCM cloning service. SIM2K-240, 241, 242, 245, 250, 251, 253, 260 & 261. Mail-in service $300 + shipping.
Can You Clone a Dead Hyundai or Kia PCM?
It depends on the condition of the original PCM.
We must be able to recover the necessary memory from your original controller.
A PCM that no longer operates correctly in the vehicle may still contain readable data and be a candidate for cloning.
However, cloning may not be possible if the original module has severe:
- Water damage
- Corrosion
- Fire or electrical damage
- Circuit board damage
- Memory failure
- Previous unsuccessful programming or repair damage
Purchasing this service does not guarantee that data can be recovered from a physically damaged original PCM.
What Do I Need to Send?
Send us:
1. Your original Hyundai/Kia SIM2K PCM
2. A compatible replacement PCM
Clearly mark the modules ORIGINAL and REPLACEMENT.
Include your Programming Request From inside the package.
This Is a PCM Cloning Service
This service transfers readable data from your original SIM2K PCM to a compatible replacement.
This is not a PCM repair service.
The replacement PCM is supplied by the customer and is not included in the $300 service price.
A successful clone cannot repair a defective customer-supplied replacement PCM.
Before Replacing Your Hyundai or Kia PCM
A no-start, no-communication condition, or diagnostic trouble code does not automatically mean the PCM has failed.
Before replacing the PCM, properly check:
- PCM powers and grounds
- Battery voltage
- Fuses and relays
- Wiring and connectors
- CAN communication
- Engine and chassis grounds
- Water intrusion and corrosion
Our mail-in cloning service does not diagnose the vehicle.
